Featuring wines from award winning Gusbourne Estate of Kent

The original Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent dates back to 1410.

In 2004, Andrew Weeber took over the estate with a clear vision and a single goal: to create English sparkling wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe. The first vines were planted that year. In 2010, the debut vintages of Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2006 and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2006 were released to critical acclaim. Gusbourne quickly earned a reputation as a producer of outstanding quality wines, with accolades from some of the industry's most exacting critics.

Recently Gusbourne has been awarded five gold medals and six silver medals at prestigious international wine competitions held here in Britain.

Ben Walgate who heads up Gusbourne Estate will introduce each wine as well as give us an insight into the workings of an internationally acclaimed Kentish wine estate and its history.

On arrival at Jo Jo’s for lunch you will enjoy a glass of the Gusbourne Estate Brut Reserve 2010, a high quality English Sparkling wine that is better than many Champagnes of the same price yet has a distinctive English character.

During the course of the relaxed afternoon you will enjoy the Gusbourne Chardonnay 2013 and the Gusbourne Pinot Noir 2013 paired with carefully selected dishes from Nicki of Jo Jo’s.

In addition we will also present the Stanley Estates Albarino 2014 from one of our very favourite producers who were the first New Zealand estate to produce a version of this delicious Spanish grape variety which is rapidly growing in popularity.

To finish off the meal we will have a rich, soft red produced by Mas Gabriel from the Languedoc in the south of France and owned by former Herne Bay local Deborah Core.

These casual and relaxed 6 course lunches give you the opportunity to taste fantastic wines matched by superlative dishes produced by the stellar crew at this local institution using fresh local produce.

We book out the entire restaurant but tickets usually go quickly so get on the blower and rustle up some mates then let us know you are coming.
